Menopause, belly weight, hot flashes and joint pain
Many of us (40-60 somethings) have a whole drawer full of medications and supplements, it can be so confusing.
Many of us (40-60 somethings) have a whole drawer full of medications and supplements, it can be so confusing. There is A LOT of information out there. Some good, some down right ridiculous.
We all here about “The Pause” mood swings, hot flashes and weight gain, but for many women joint pain is connected to menopause too. A lack of estrogen and progesterone can cause so many different symptoms. Some also get a change in body odour…so much fun 🤷♀️
Here’s a few tips you may not of heard about:
Estrogen helps to regulate metabolism, weight and reduce inflammation.
During menopause, we tend to see a drop in estrogen, and progesterone which leads to faster weight gain and increased hot flashes.
This causes the body to sweat more, allowing more bacteria growth in regions like armpits, mouth, groin, armpit, and foot. The change in body chemistry can result in a change in the smell of body odors.
Curcumin is a phytoestrogen (a plant source of estrogen) that helps us to rebalance estrogen levels naturally.
It is also a natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory herb that supports weight control, digestion, joint pain & cools hot flashes.
Curcumin is the main active ingredient found in turmeric. For the best effect, look for Golden Turmeric Root Extract (95% Curcuminoids) together with Black Pepper, which helps to increase the absorption of Curcumin.
A drop in estrogen can also cause higher inflammation levels.
High Inflammation levels can cause digestion issues, anxiety and weight gain.
Sweat caused by anxiety or stress is produced differently than sweat from exercise. Anxiety sweat is formed in the apocrine glands and produces fatty sweat that bacteria love to lounge in, which causes a different and more pronounced odor.
High inflammation can also increase fat absorption rate, leading to more weight gain.
Moringa leaves provide an even stronger anti-inflammatory benefit than curcumin and are packed with several essential minerals like iron.
During menopause, iron levels drop severely which can lead to anxiety, mood swings and brain fog.
A daily dose of moringa replenishes iron levels in the body, reduces inflammation and helps women with low energy feel recharged in the morning.
Aim to have at least 350mg of Moringa Leaf every day.
A drop in estrogen levels during menopause can cause bad bacteria to grow quicker in the gut (which may also lead to gut inflammation and “leaky gut”)
This is why it’s common to have belly bloating, weight gain, and other digestive issues during menopause.
Probiotics are great for strengthening the gut and populate it with good bacteria.
Naturally fermented foods like kimchi, sauerkraut and kefir are rich in probiotics that introduce good bacteria to the gut.
There are also some unique probiotic strains — like L. Gasseri & B. Breve — that have been studied to impact bloating and stubborn fat.
